Paul Süsholz is 24 jaar als hij tewerk wordt gesteld in kamp Kremboong. Zo’n 200 Joodse mannen werken voor de Heidemaatschappij aan de ontginning van het land. Als hij in juli 1942 hoort dat de mannen de volgende dag naar kamp Westerbork zullen worden gebracht, besluit hij te vluchten.
