Welcome to UC Santa Cruz Arboretum and to a Guided Hike through the Eucalyptus Grove. The arboretum has over 15 different gardens but these 10 acres were the first to be planted at the encouragement of Dean McHenry the universities first chancellor. This tour features the good, the bad and the beautiful of Eucalyptus trees, the world's largest flowering plants. On this tour you will hear from Eucalyptus Grove's curator Melinda Kralj. She graduated from UCSC in 1978 with degrees in Biology & Art and in 1989 was hired as the curator for Australian gardens. Over many years she has worked to revitalize the Eucalyptus Grove and showcase the diversity of this species. Enjoy the tour!
