Het natuurgebied Griesbroek is gelegen in de vallei van de Grote Nete op de grens van Olmen en Hulsen. Dit broekbos met omliggend cultuurlandschap situeert zich in en rond de driehoek die gevormd wordt door de prachtig meanderende Grote Nete in het noorden, het kanaal Dessel-Kwaadmechelen in het oosten en de Heiloop in het zuiden. De Heiloop vloeit achter de nog in werking zijnde Straalmolen samen met de Grote Nete in het uiterste westen van het gebied.
