De 50 meter hoge Voortberg waakt over de Demervallei, “zoals een reus die midden de vallei ligt te slapen” zoals Ernest Claes schreef. Vanop dit panoramapunt heb je een prachtig uitzicht, bijvoorbeeld op de kerk van Testelt. De Voortberg is een typische zandsteenheuvel, een relictheuvel met oeroude afzettingen. De kerk van Testelt is gebouwd uit deze ijzerzandsteen, de muur errond ook, waarop mooie korstmossen groeien.
