In 1995 werd gestart met de aanplant van dit bos. Verschillende jaren werd in dit bos voor alle kindjes geboren in Diepenbeek een boom bij geplant.
Vele spechten vinden hier nu al een geschikt leefgebied. Je hoort nu het geluid van de zwarte specht tijdens zijn vlucht en daarna kloppend op een boom.
