Van Oldenbarneveldplein This spot used to be a canal for a short period of time, from 1883 to 1900. Now it is a green city square filled with plane trees and Dutch linden trees from the 1930ties. The slender Linden trees show that the girth of a tree does not necessarily have an arbitrary correlation with the age of a tree. The glass mosaic is a portrait of Van Oldenbarneveldt. The sculpture of a fragile little girl at the right side of the square was made by Rignalda. She is looking onward to a figure called "why not" by Dilworth. Remember the coupled sculptures of the old Westerpark? This is the second unison.
