Straight through this park run a road and a tramline. The park has many rare old trees, 3 plane trees dating back from 1896, a field elm from 1905, a maple tree (Leopold maple) from 1910, a Silver Maple, a Dutch elm from the year 1925 and an Oriental plane from 1947, for instance. At the south end stands a monument "The monument for a sunken city" by Berend Peter Hoge Esch. He wanted to provide a visual counterweight with his oblique lines in comparison with the slanting growth of the old trees. The only barely visible blue concrete poles mark where the border between city and wetland once were. There is a sign that reveals the alternative or secondary title of the work " Only fools thinks that they can protect". Opposite to this art piece stands a sculpture by Stauthamer, "dream sculpture" flanked by a monumental plane tree, that has assured the occupancy of its rightful spot by growing very close to the edge.
