This park was constructed on top of a cemetery that was part of a former church ground. The church was popularly called "The love". The church's architect was Cuypers and it was demolished in 1990. Many old trees have been preserved, such as a field elm from 1905 and a dutch elm from 1915. The wall of what once was a morgue has been integrated in to the interior of a restaurant, aptly named "The love".
When crossing the pedestrian bridge, you will see a canal intersection. Four canals cross each other here. On the left banks you can find white maples, Dutch Linden trees and weeping willows parallel to a quay that has the name Geuzenkade. Straight ahead you can find a small peninsula, Marcanti Island, that was once destined to be a helicopter port but eventually received the zoning assignment of living area. The streets names (odonyms), like De kop van Jut, The High striker, for instance, are named after the fun fair that once took place there when it was still a fallow piece of land. The pyramids by architects Soeters Van Eldonk were built in 2005
