The area that now surrounds the Bellamy square used to a rural wetland with saw mills and small polder houses. The current homes were built in 1904 and one can find tableaux (or tablets, a ceramic plate with a painting on in, in the netherlands mainly blue, known as delftware panels) in the porches leading to the entrance of the homes that depict the mills of that era. The paddling pool was constructed in 1954. Many trees adorn the square, namely, wingnut trees, japanese nut trees and many linden trees. A silver maple (Acer Saccharinum) in dutch called the Beatrixdoorn was planted here to honour the birth of the current Dutch Queen Beatrix. She was born on the 31st january of 1938.
