This homestead carries the name of the former shipyard and ironworks plant of J. Zimmer and son, a company that made manhole covers and clocks and was situated there until the 60's. The zoo used to be popularly known as "the little land of uncle Kick". Frits Bottelier, (Uncle Kick) was a very active participator in the maintenance and management of the zoo during the 70's. He wanted to make sure future generations could enjoy this spontaneously created playground. Its grounds are scattered with huntingdon elm trees, hawthorn trees and prunus trees, amongst other vegetation.
