The intersection of the roads Admiraal de Ruijterweg and Jan Evertsenstraat has a strange history. The tram between Amsterdam - Haarlem and Zandvoort had a stop there called "The krommert". --- The one that is bent ----- The tram connection was removed in 1957 but the name stayed fashionable and was used for the city tram stop also. The courtyard is the bottom of the ditch that was once called "De Krommert". The very last part of this ditch was closed in 1959. The mansion on number 95 still carries the name "De Krommert".
