Merely a hundred years ago this was still Dutch polder landscape. Now it is a park called Erasmuspark, constructed in accordance with the "Mondriaan style". The statue of Orso arrived in 1998 and marked the finalisation of the renovation project. The bear represents the power of nature and the moon. (that is why the statue is softly illuminated by night. Trees present in the celtic "tree horoscope" have been planted in the park. They are marked by signs. At the south-east exit of the park lies a bridge, the "four corners of the wind" bridge that crosses the canal, Admiralengracht. The sculptures on the bridge were made by Hildo Krop.
