This pond that is conically shaped is used as a paddling pool in the summer. Cherry flower and magnolia grow on the shores. This area of what is now the Westerpark used to be part of the Industrial complex. This complex dates from 1885 and was called Wester Gasfabriek. (The gas factory of the west). The buildings here were at that time used as a coal gasworks factory in other to power the urban lighting system. They still carry their respective functional names from that era, such as "ladder houses" and "gas tanks". The complex has been reinstated as a Cultural park and opened its doors to the public on September 7th , 2003.
