Some trees that were planted while constructing the original park have been preserved. For instance the parrotia persica (planted in 1889). It has branches that reach the ground and a very low crown. When you walk a bit further you will find the smoothleaf elm on the shores of the canal called Haarlemmertrekvaart. This tree has a hight of 32 meters and was bred in 1889. The tree stands tall next to "the man on the barstool" a sculpture by artist Ronald Tolman. The man looks onwards to the abstract ornament by Paliessen next to the pond. When the assignment for the art pieces were commissioned, 4 artists were approached and asked to work in unison as a 2x2. The other works by Rignalda and Dilworth are situated on the square called Oldebarneveldtplein. During the summertime a wedding dress floats in the pond, this is a piece by Patchwork.
