Hier is nog een stukje Spaarndammerdijk te zien, die in de 13e eeuw is aangelegd om het nog niet drooggelegde IJ buiten de stad te houden. Er staan nog een aantal oude huizen en de prachtige Petruskerk, die dateert uit 1664. De grootouders van Vincent van Gogh zijn hier getrouwd. Heel toepasselijk staat hier het beeld van Gomes 'de verdwenen boer', met achter hem zijn niet in de titel vermelde boerin.
