Schiermonnikoog is autoluw en dat is te merken. Het is er heerlijk stil. Na ruim één kilometer sta je aan de zeekant van de duinen. Het brede strand lijkt een eindeloze vlakte. De trailrun route steekt meerdere malen de eerste duinrand over om door het naaldbos dieper het eiland in te dringen. Er is rekening met het broedseizoen gehouden zodat de Trailrun Schiermonnikoog het gehele jaar door gelopen kan worden.
