Dit natuurreservaat is een oud moerasgebied in de benedenloop van de Dommel, met gras- en hooilanden, wateren en rietkragen. Het ligt tegen de vestingmuren van de historische binnenstad. Staatsbosbeheer is eigenaar van het gebied.
