Amerika Plads har sit navn fra de store oceandampere til New York, der engang lagde fra kaj her. Turen begynder, der hvor Dampfærgevej møder Kalkbrænderihavnsgade på Østerbro. Området her har i årtier været præget af tung godstrafik, men nu har industrien trukket sig ud og Amerika Plads er i fuld gang med en forvandling fra råt havne- og godsareal til topmoderne bykvarter.
